Crystals that are not friable or joint can be held under running water. As you do so, hold the intention that all negativity will be washed away and the crystals reenergised.
Placing the crystals in the light of the sun or moon for a few hours can also recharge its batteries provided it is not a stone that fades in sunlight and care is taken not to focus the rays where they could start a fire. Remember that the light from the sun moves around in an arc as the day progreses.
Certain crystals have the ability to cleanse other crystals. Keep a carnelian in a bag of tumbled stones and you will never need to cleanse them using other method. A small crystal can be placed on a clear quartz cluster and left overnight.
You can smudge crystals or pass them through the light from a candle. You can also visualise them surrounded by light, which purifies and reenergises them.
Some of the other crystals that never needs cleansing are Kyanite and Citrine. By holding these crystals, focus on your intention for it to assist in cleansing your other crystals. If possible, surround yourself and crystals with white lights.
We never encourage salt cleansing. We have realised that salt cleansing reduces the energy of alot of crystals.
By soaking your crystals in salt water, the salt water could enter the tiny natural crack hole of the crystals and stays there. When the water drys up, the salt particles are almost impossible to remove even by soaking them in clear water for a few days. The salt particles that remains in the crystals will break the crystals formation causing great harm to your crystals.
In the olden days, people uses salt to cleanse their crystals, it is true that salt is a great cleansing agent but they neglected the after effect of the salt cleansing. Til now, the method of salt cleansing passed on and many crystal sellers have very little knowledge on crystals itself will always use the methods of hearsay and salt cleansing is the most commonly heard as it has been used since the olden days.
Many of our local customers still uses the traditional methods simply because it was recommanded to them when they purchased their crystals previously. We do not face that much of a problem with our overseas customers though.
Some of the methods that local sellers recommanded in cleansing crystals are : soaking crystals in salt water, sun the crystals for a few days, using toothpaste to clean pyrites.
We have already explaing the harm caused by salt cleansing. for toothpaste cleansing, the chemical content is too harsh and the pyrite though becomes shiny, the energy seems wierd and uncomfortable. And also after cleaning with toothpaste, the shine will only last for a very short period of time and the whole pyrite will turn blackish.
To polish pyrites, use a small metalic brush to brush it gently.
For sunning of crystals, we usually recommand moonlight instead but if you prefer sunlight, try to do it on the morning sun or the setting sun when the sunlight is not too harsh. You only need to sun them for a few minutes.
When holding a crystals, try to focus on it. Sometimes you will have a feeling of cleansing it. This is one way that the crystals is telling you that its time for it to take a shower ( when we mention shower, we mean cleansing it with appropriate methods, not just with water ) .
Sometimes, you will have an impression or the first thought of what to cleanse your crystals with. That would be the best way. Try not to let your own thoughts get in your way. If you don concentrate enough, what appears will be the most used method of your own or the methods that you last heard of and so on.
After focusing, it is still up to you to weight the possibilities.
